TRUE PROMISE II
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) conducted retaliatory strikes targeting Israeli military and intelligence installations in response to Israeli assassinations of key Resistance figures and the ground invasion of Lebanon.
On 1 October 2024, at 2000 hrs local, the IRGC initiated Operation True Promise II, launching over 200 ballistic missiles from sites in Tabriz, Kashan, and near Tehran. The operation was a direct response to the Israeli assassination of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, IRGC commander Major General Seyyed Abbas Nilforoushan, and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, as well as Israel’s ground incursion into Lebanon. The attack, codenamed “Oh Messenger of God,” targeted key Israeli military and intelligence sites, including Tel Nof Airbase, Nevatim Airbase, and a Mossad headquarters.

Missiles employed included Ghadr-F, Emad, and Kheibar Shekan medium-range ballistic missiles, with Iranian sources claiming a 90% success rate in hitting intended targets. Hypersonic missiles were also reportedly used, challenging Israel’s Iron Dome system due to their speed and maneuverability. The operation caused limited casualties, with one Palestinian laborer killed and two Israeli civilians injured, alongside Palestinian casualties in Jericho from rocket fragments.
Israel, supported by U.S. and Jordanian air defenses, intercepted several missiles. Iran issued warnings against Israeli retaliation, threatening “crushing attacks” if provoked further. The operation was approved by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and supported by the Iranian Army and Ministry of Defense.
